The Point of All This
So I had the opportunity to go and see my classroom for the fall and I realized that I will be starting from SCRATCH! Literally all that is in my classroom is my desk, tables, and text books. So I've been thrifting like CRAZY to get everything I need! I have to say, I think I'm doing pretty well! The most touching thing happened at one store. I was looking through the children's books when a woman asked me if I was a teacher. I told her it was my first year and she said that her brother is a teacher and he does the same thing. A minute later she gave me $10 and told me to buy more books. I was so surprised and touched! It was one of the nicest things a stranger has ever done! Needless to say, I walked out of there with about 30 books!
Anyway, I wanted to talk about the point of this blog! I've been surfing the web and I've found a few different blogs that have SO much information that I can use! I've also been looking on Teachers Pay Teachers to get ideas! Then it hit me, I can create the blogs and things for Teachers Pay Teachers too! So I'm starting with the blog so I can share my ideas (I'll get to the posting things on Teachers Pay Teachers a little later). I'll probably be reposting a lot of ideas I find elsewhere, but I also want to document and share my ideas as well! I hope that this will help me stay on top of things and if it helps even one other teacher then it's worth the time!
I'm doing a tropical theme for my fall classroom (I'm okay with it being summer all year ;) ) so any ideas would be appreciated and be prepared to see a lot of palm trees, sharks, flowers, and flamingos in the near future!
Happy Teaching!
New Career - New Inspiration!
If you can't already tell by the title of my blog, I am a first year teacher preparing to teach first grade in the Fall! I am excited, terrified, motivated, terrified, thrilled, oh and did I mention terrified? Although this is my first year really teaching, I do have a little bit of experience. I've been working at a preschool since last May and I have gained SO much knowledge and experience from working there! I was a teacher assistant and now I am a lead teacher for the summer. I have been able to practice being in charge of 16 little ones while also trying to come up with exciting things to keep them occupied! I also got to decorate the classroom! Below you can see that I used a Fairy Tale theme in my classroom! Most of the kids hadn't heard of many of the Fairy Tales so of course we had to read them! They were a HUGE hit! The kids can still be seen playing "The Three Little Pigs" on the playground! :)
